How to spend a weekend in Italy
Bologna is a major railway hub. Venice and Florence are both in easy reach of there. Venice is 1.5 to 2 hours away depending on which train you take. Florence is a similar distance. Rome is a little further but still doable. Those are the 'big three' and any one of them would make a good weekend trip.
